This text is part of a doctoral thesis in which the policy for monitoring the quality of education in Minas Gerais was analyzed, given the specificity of education as a work process and a pedagogical action. Based on documentary and bibliographic research, this text discusses the Management State as a matrix for the management of educational systems based on the testing of students on a large scale and on the accountability of educational agents. These policies are verified aspects corresponding to the area, while the control of other people’s work, applied to educational work.
