The objective of the study is to identify the main competencies of the teacher in higher education. Focusing on the Millennial generation, exploratory research was carried out through the survey method with undergraduate students of a Federal Higher Education Institution in Brazil. In order of importance, in the results, the students pointed out the teacher facilitating the educational process, stimulating critical thinking in students, and promoting a dynamic environment for teaching-learning as primary competencies.
