GOULART, JANAINA MOREIRA DE OLIVEIRA y AMARAL, DANIELA PATTI DO. Militarization of schools and democratic management: the meanings of the de-democratization of public education. Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação [online]. 2023, vol.39, n.1, e128742. Epub 31-Oct-2024. ISSN 2447-4193. https://doi.org/10.21573/vol39n12023.128742.
The militarization process of public schools in Brazil brings together indications of a de-democratization of public education, in a movement contrary to the constitutional principle of democratic management. This process, more specifically in the state of Goiás, is not recent and is a dynamic that has been occurring for decades. We analyze the militarization models involving the Militarized Public Schools (EPM) and the Civic-military Schools (Ecim), considering the idea that, in Brazil, there are two generations of civilian public schools transformed into militarized public schools (GOULART, 2022).
