Abstract

SILVA, ANDRÉA VILLELA MAFRA DA  and  VALADAO, SABRINA. Distance education in Brazil: a historical overview of the last five years of the modality in the country. Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação [online]. 2024, vol.40, n.1, e131088.  Epub May 09, 2025. ISSN 2447-4193.  https://doi.org/10.21573/vol40n12024.131088.

The work analyzes the percentage of higher education courses in Brazil that offer the Distance Education modality (EaD), during the SARS-COV-2 Pandemic. Methodologically, it uses exploratory and descriptive research (Severino, 2007). For the collection of quantitative and statistical data, it used the Higher Education Census, referring to the years 2017 to 2021. It concludes that the pandemic contributed to the increase in distance education courses, however, we observed the influence of the Brazilian government's incentive for the propagation of this modality in the country.

Keywords : Distance education; Pandemic covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2); Statistical data; Higher Education Census.
