Abstract

TEIXEIRA JUNIOR, Valdomiro Pinheiro  and  SILVA, Paulo Vilhena da. An anthropological perspective of Mathematics Education of a wittgensteinian inspiration. Ed. Mat. Deb. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.16, a12. ISSN 2526-6136.  https://doi.org/10.46551/emd.v9n16a12.

This article discusses a possible conception of Mathematics Education based on an anthropological perspective of Wittgenstein’s philosophy. We thus enter a little-explored area: Wittgenstein’s anthropological thought and the repercussions for the understanding of other aspects of Mathematics, as well as for its teaching and learning. This is a theoretical study that presents the changes made by Wittgenstein, called linguistic and pragmatic turns (or would it be an anthropological turn?). We discuss this question because we consider that the young Wittgenstein relied fundamentally on mathematical logic, but in his mature phase, he began to consider the context of human practices. Our reflections point to the possibility of constructing philosophical assumptions that support mathematics education in an anthropology of linguistic uses.

Keywords : Mathematics Education; Wittgenstein; Anthropological Turn; Language.
