The aim of this article is to present a reflection on the school memorial, as a pedagogical device, written by 5th graders. Year of Elementary School. The corpus consists of 09 memoirs, produced and published between 2017 and 2022, and 07 interviews conducted with 07 children during the writing process. First, we present the research methodology, then we briefly situate the school memoir in a discursive tradition of higher education in Brazil. In the third sub-item, we consider the school as a place of memories and the memoir as a form of memory education writing and we look at didactic aspects that guide the writing of the school memoir. Finally, we discuss what the analysis allows us to infer about what it meant for the children to write a memoir in which they echo their voices, uncertainties and joys, which they want to keep for life. We conclude on the importance of the school as a place of experiences, memories and self-writing as a process of subjectivation, socialization and memory education.
