Abstract

The main objective of the study is to analyze discourses on work, understood as a contemporary transversal theme, in schoolbooks of Human and Applied Social Sciences, approved by the National Program of Books and Teaching Materials, 2021 edition, in compliance with the Reform of the New High School (Law No. 13.415/2017) and the Common National Curricular Base for High School (2018). The methodology follows a descriptive-interpretative way of a qualitative nature. The analysis of fragments collected from three didactic collections of schoolbooks of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences allows us to problematize that work is shown in the neoliberal molds, as it presupposes the development of individual skills and aptitudes that seek to lead the high school youth to conceive the world of work under the logic of competition.
