Abstract

SANTOS JUNIOR, Nei Jorge dos. HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION: NECESSARY REFLECTIONS. Revista LES [online]. 2024, vol.28, n.58, 5697.  Epub Mar 28, 2025. ISSN 2526-8449.  https://doi.org/10.26694/rles.v28i58.5697.

The present study aims to reflect on the relationships established between school Physical Education and human rights education, seeking to expose their implications, challenges, and tensions. For the development of this work, a critical literature review of an opinionative nature was adopted, characterized by the analysis and synthesis of information from various published studies on a specific topic. It was observed that there is a significant growth in the number and systematization of educational policies and pedagogical practices that responsibly address human rights education. Nevertheless, such initiatives prove to be insufficient, often generating an environment of absence and invisibility in educational processes capable of shaping subjects with rights. Physical Education, as a curricular component, cannot remain indifferent to this process. On the contrary, it must undertake the commitment to contemplate bodily practices in their broader political and cultural sense, not confined to a homogeneous view of the dominant bodily culture, representing a space that guarantees rights: to quality education, to equality, to respect, to difference..
