This study consists of knowing the Social Representations that teachers of the first segment of Elementary School in private schools in the interior of the State of Rio de Janeiro attribute to school failure. Such problematization dialogues and is based on the perspective of studies of the theory of Social Representations. In the case of the present study, we address that the social representations or meanings attributed to a given object by a certain group of subjects express both the circulating information about this object, the conditions of filtering this information, the experiences related to the group, the social and cultural conditions of this group and their relations with those who are close or distant to them. Thus, they faithfully portray the realities according to the values and norms of certain groups, express the contradictions and compressions of their peers. To this end, a multi-methodological approach was adopted, associating observation, interviews, wordfree recall test, and central core test. As a result, teachers recognize their students' school failure and project responsibility onto the family.
