<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This article discusses the concept of quality education, its relation to the significance of Total Quality, and its implications on education. It questions the quality-quantity dichotomy in the scope of the Brazilian educational system. It spells out the link between the indicators implicit in the quality education concept and the demands brought by the new production processes and the requirements entailed in the education of the professional.]]></p></abstract>
