Passados mais de quinze anos, esses estudos aparentam perda do ímpeto inaugural, apresentando reduzido crescimento, bem como certa homogeneidade conceitual e analítica. Com base em revisão bibliográfica nacional e internacional, este artigo examina alguns desafios a serem enfrentados pelos aportes de História da Infância no Brasil que implicam, por um lado, o exame de extensa e diversificada literatura internacional, destacadamente dos chamados new social studies of childhood com vistas ao alargamento dos horizontes conceituais; por outro, implicam superação de preconceitos que bloqueiam diálogos necessários com as Ciências Biológicas e Psicológicas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The social studies and history of childhood in Brazil had a promising initial impulse at the end of the 1980’s. More than 15 years later, these studies appear to have lost their initial impetus, have grown more slowly and have displayed a conceptual and analytical homogeneity. Based on the review of Brazilian and international bibliographies, this article examines some challenges to be confronted by the contributions of the history of childhood in Brazil. On one hand this involves the examination of the extensive and diversified international literature, particularly those called new social studies of childhood with the goal of broadening the conceptual horizons. On the other hand, it implies overcoming the prejudice that blocks the necessary dialog with the biological and psychological sciences.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[En los finales de los años ochenta, los estudios sociales y de historia de la infancia tuvieron en Brasil un gran impulso. Estos estudios, después de quince años, fueron perdiendo el ímpetu inaugural, presentando poco crecimiento y homogeneidad conceptual y analítica. El presente texto, a partir de una revisión bibliográfica nacional e internacional, examina algunos desafíos que la historia de la infancia en Brasil tiene que enfrentar a partir de los diferentes aportes. Esta revisión implica, por un lado, el examen de una extensa y diversificada literatura internacional, en especial de los llamados new social studies of childhood que permiten la ampliación de los horizontes conceptuales; y por otro lado, la superación de los preconceptos que obstaculizan el diálogo necesario con las ciencias biológicas y psicológicas.]]></p></abstract>
