Na pesquisa apresentada, foram estabelecidas conex&#245;es entre os Estudos da Inf&#226;ncia, a Educa&#231;&#227;o Ambiental e as proposi&#231;&#245;es do soci&#243;logo Zygmunt Bauman em seu exame sobre a centralidade assumida pelo consumo na organiza&#231;&#227;o da vida social. Nessa dire&#231;&#227;o, volta-se o olhar para o advento do consumismo e as configura&#231;&#245;es de inf&#226;ncia na contemporaneidade, analisando as narrativas de um grupo de crian&#231;as sobre consumo. Nas experi&#234;ncias narradas, destaca-se a rela&#231;&#227;o entre consumo e preserva&#231;&#227;o ambiental, a penetrabilidade do ato da compra no cotidiano infantil e a atribui&#231;&#227;o de sentidos aos objetos e pr&#225;ticas de consumo para al&#233;m de sua funcionalidade material.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Este art&#237;culo analiza las concepciones y experiencias de la infancia como construcciones hist&#243;ricas, sociales y culturales, sujetas a los cambios que caracterizan a las sociedades. En esta investigaci&#243;n, se establecen conexiones entre los estudios sobre la infancia, la educaci&#243;n ambiental y las proposiciones del soci&#243;logo Zygmunt Bauman en su an&#225;lisis sobre la importancia asumida por el consumismo en la organizaci&#243;n de la vida social. Por lo tanto, la mirada se concentra en el consumismo y las confi guraciones de la infancia en la sociedad contempor&#226;nea analizando los relatos de un grupo de ni&#241;os de escuela primaria acerca del consumo. En las experiencias narradas, se destaca la relaci&#243;n entre el consumo y la conservaci&#243;n del medio ambiente, la omnipresencia del acto de compra en la vida cotidiana infantil, as&#237; como la atribuci&#243;n de sentidos a los objetos y pr&#225;cticas de consumo m&#225;s all&#225; de la funcionalidad del material.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This article discusses the understandings and experiences of childhood as historical, social and cultural constructions, subject to the changes characterizing societies. Connections are established between Childhood Studies, Environmental Education and the propositions of the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman in his examination of the centrality assumed by consumerism in the organization of social life. Therefore, the gaze is turned to the advent of consumerism and childhood settings in contemporary society by analyzing the narratives of a group of elementary school children on consumption. In the narrated experiences, noteworthy are the relationship between consumption and environmental preservation, the pervasiveness of the purchase act in children's daily life as well as the attribution of meanings to objects and consumption practices beyond the material functionality.]]></p></abstract>
