Como a Modernidade se caracteriza pela ascens&#227;o da esfera social e a dilui&#231;&#227;o da distin&#231;&#227;o entre p&#250;blico e privado, tal como a experi&#234;ncia dos antigos gregos e romanos a evidenciava, &#233; importante analisar a tarefa da escola, uma vez que para a autora esta deve ser a institui&#231;&#227;o que faz a transi&#231;&#227;o do dom&#237;nio familiar para a vida p&#250;blica. Nesse sentido, relaciona-se a natalidade como o fato de que os seres humanos nascem para o mundo e a educa&#231;&#227;o, situando a escola no &#226;mbito pr&#233;-pol&#237;tico. Nele, a escola se ocuparia da tarefa de "ensaiar" o estudante para a cidadania, introduzindo-o na a&#231;&#227;o e na tradi&#231;&#227;o, elementos cruciais para que os "novos" adentrem ao mundo que lhes &#233; estranho e habitado por outros adultos. Nesse sentido, a escola tem a fun&#231;&#227;o de educar e ensinar, findando, assim, a educa&#231;&#227;o assim que o indiv&#237;duo atingir a condi&#231;&#227;o adulta e se tornar um cidad&#227;o. Sem uma educa&#231;&#227;o que propicie a preserva&#231;&#227;o da novidade e da singularidade de cada crian&#231;a e jovem, ao mesmo tempo em que permita os "ensaios" para a vida p&#250;blica, corre-se o risco de perder a possibilidade de renova&#231;&#227;o do mundo e, no caso da contemporaneidade, da reestrutura&#231;&#227;o da vida p&#250;blica por meio da cidadania.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Considering the studies developed by Hannah Arendt, this article analysis the school's role in which the school is seen as a 'rehearse' for the public sphere. Modernity is characterized by the ascension of the social sphere and the dilution of the distinction that is made between the public and the private realms, just as the Greek and the Romans had experienced it. Therefore, it is relevant to analyze the school's role in this scenario, since for Hannah Arendt, this is the institution that must enable the transition from the family sphere to the public one. Hence, a relation has been established between natality - as the fact that human beings are born to the world - and education - while situating school in the pre-political sphere. School's role in it would be to 'rehearse' the student to become a citizen in terms of being acquainted with the 'action' and 'tradition' concepts, crucial for the "new-arrived" to engage in the world that is strange for them and where other adults live in. The school's main role is then to educate and to teach, and it ends as the individual reaches the adult life and becomes a citizen. Education is supposed to provide the preservation of new beginnings and of the singularity of each child and adolescent as well as allow the 'rehearses' for the public life. Once these don't occur, risks are taken of losing the possibility of renovation of the world and - in the contemporaneity scenario - the public life restructure through citizenship.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen A partir de Hannah Arendt se realiz&#243; un an&#225;lisis del papel de la escuela teniendo como referencia la idea de "ensayo" para la ciudadan&#237;a. Como la modernidad est&#225; caracterizada por la ascensi&#243;n de la esfera social y la diluci&#243;n de la distinci&#243;n entre p&#250;blico y privado, as&#237; como la experiencia de los antiguos griegos y romanos la evidenciaba, es importante hacer un an&#225;lisis del papel de la escuela, ya que para la autora la escuela debe ser la instituci&#243;n que hace la transici&#243;n del dominio de la familia hacia la vida p&#250;blica. En este sentido, relacionamos la natalidad, como un hecho por el cual los seres humanos nacen para el mundo y la educaci&#243;n, ubicando la escuela en el campo pre pol&#237;tico. En este &#225;mbito, la escuela se ocupar&#237;a de la tarea de "ensayar" el estudiante para la ciudadan&#237;a, introduci&#233;ndolo en la acci&#243;n y en la tradici&#243;n, elementos necesarios para que los "nuevos" adentren en el mundo que les parece extra&#241;o y que es habitado por otros adultos. As&#237;, la escuela tiene la funci&#243;n de educar y ense&#241;ar, siendo que la educaci&#243;n se acaba cuando la persona llega a la madurez y se convierte en ciudadano. Sin una educaci&#243;n que fomente la preservaci&#243;n de la novedad y de la singularidad de cada ni&#241;o y joven, al mismo tiempo que permita "ensayos" para la vida p&#250;blica, se corre el riesgo de perder la posibilidad de renovaci&#243;n del mundo y, en el caso de la contemporaneidad, de la reestructuraci&#243;n de la vida p&#250;blica a trav&#233;s de la ciudadan&#237;a.]]></p></abstract>
