Al&#233;m de uma base t&#233;cnica que define suas funcionalidades, as plataformas digitais, os ambientes virtuais e os meios de comunica&#231;&#227;o digitais em rede possuem como caracter&#237;stica o fato de permitirem a transmiss&#227;o de elementos de ordem abstrata ou simb&#243;lica. Este artigo prop&#245;e um exerc&#237;cio sobre quest&#245;es epistemol&#243;gicas e metodol&#243;gicas que envolvem a pesquisa sobre os processos formativos on-line, de maneira que seja superado o antagonismo entre as dimens&#245;es cultural e t&#233;cnica dos meios tecnol&#243;gicos. Parte-se de duas possibilidades explicativas para as rela&#231;&#245;es entre as tecnologias e a educa&#231;&#227;o e prop&#245;e-se a abordagem sociot&#233;cnica como possibilidade de orienta&#231;&#227;o te&#243;rico-metodol&#243;gica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The research on the online formative processes has a technical basis, that the relation with the technique is never purely instrumental. In addition to a technical basis that defines its functionality, the digital platforms, virtual environments and digital media network have as a characteristic the fact of allowing the transmission of elements either abstract or symbolic. This paper proposes an exercise in epistemological and methodological issues involving research on the online formative processes in order to overcome the antagonism between the cultural dimension and the technique of the technological means. There are two possible explanations for the relationship between technologies and education, proposing a socio-technical approach as a possible theoretical and methodological orientation.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[La investigaci&#243;n sobre los procesos de formaci&#243;n en l&#237;nea tiene una base t&#233;cnica, pero la relaci&#243;n con la misma nunca es puramente instrumental. Adem&#225;s de una base t&#233;cnica que define sus funcionalidades, las plataformas digitales, los entornos virtuales y los medios de comunicaci&#243;n digitales en red poseen como caracter&#237;stica el hecho de permitir la transmisi&#243;n de elementos de orden abstracto o simb&#243;lico. Este art&#237;culo propone un ejercicio sobre las cuestiones epistemol&#243;gicas y metodol&#243;gicas que abarcan la investigaci&#243;n sobre los procesos de formaci&#243;n en l&#237;nea, a fin de superarel antagonismo entre la dimensi&#243;n cultural y la dimensi&#243;n t&#233;cnica de los medios tecnol&#243;gicos. Se parte de dos posibilidades explicativas para las relaciones entre tecnolog&#237;a y educaci&#243;n y se propone el enfoque sociot&#233;cnico como posible orientaci&#243;n te&#243;rica y metodol&#243;gica.]]></p></abstract>
