Enquanto as abordagens da pesquisa internacional privilegiam o conhecimento sobre as aprendizagens do estudante universitário, suas culturas e interesses, no Brasil, sem descuidar o caráter psicológico destas abordagens, a pesquisa inclui também uma perspectiva política e social. Isto porque os estudantes se destacaram, ao longo da história, pelo ativismo político através de movimentos organizados que influíram na vida nacional. Neste artigo são apontados alguns autores que abordam a temática e algumas de suas obras bem como os movimentos estudantis e suas ações. Em contraste a estes movimentos de formação do sujeito político na universidade questiona-se a influência dos programas de avaliação expressos em resultados de exames nacionais (da escola fundamental, ao ensino médio e à universidade). Questiona-se igualmente o apelo consumista do marketing das instituições sobre os estudantes que são vistos como estudantes-consumidores em busca de ascensão profissional pelo acúmulo de bagagem individualizada e produtivista.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The higher education student is a research theme in different countries and societies. The international research approach focuses on student learning, their cultures and interests. In Brazil, without being careless to the psychological character of this approach, the research includes also a social and political perspective. This is done because throughout history the students stood out by their political activism through organized movements that have influenced the life of the country. In this article some leading authors in the research of student themes are indicated as well as the national student movements' and their political actions. In contrast with these political formative movements inside the university we question the also formative influence of evaluation programs with emphasis in national exam results. We question the consumerist marketing appeal of higher education institutions over the student that focuses on a consumer-student that is in search of professional ascension by productivist and individualized baggage.]]></p></abstract>
