<self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1517-97022016000200313&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1517-97022016000200313&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1517-97022016000200313&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo O presente estudo prop&#244;s-se a analisar as representa&#231;&#245;es de estudantes de licenciatura em pedagogia acerca da profiss&#227;o de professor, bem como compreender o interesse dos mesmos pelo exerc&#237;cio da doc&#234;ncia, especialmente na educa&#231;&#227;o b&#225;sica. Participaram da pesquisa 120 alunos dos cursos de pedagogia licenciatura da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS), em fase intermedi&#225;ria ou de conclus&#227;o de curso. Foi solicitado aos alunos que respondessem um question&#225;rio autoaplic&#225;vel que investigava representa&#231;&#245;es acerca da profiss&#227;o de professor, avalia&#231;&#227;o da escolha do curso de licenciatura e interesse pela profiss&#227;o docente. Os dados foram tratados com an&#225;lise estat&#237;stica e an&#225;lise de conte&#250;do baseada em Bardin (2010). Dentre os principais resultados, observou-se que os estudantes atribu&#237;ram elevado grau de import&#226;ncia do professor para a sociedade, reconhecendo, por&#233;m, que a profiss&#227;o n&#227;o &#233; valorizada socialmente, fator que surgiu como uma das principais justificativas para a insatisfa&#231;&#227;o com a escolha do curso de pedagogia licenciatura. Ainda que significativa parte dos respondentes (79,8%) afirmasse pretens&#227;o de ensinarem em sala de aula, a maioria n&#227;o manifestou interesse por uma atua&#231;&#227;o mais duradoura (por mais de dez anos) nessa atividade. Os resultados possibilitaram considerar que, embora a representa&#231;&#227;o positiva da fun&#231;&#227;o social do professor contribua para o interesse ou admira&#231;&#227;o pela profiss&#227;o, esse aspecto apenas parece insuficiente para motivar a perman&#234;ncia de estudantes nessa carreira, o que aponta para a necessidade de mudan&#231;as nas condi&#231;&#245;es de trabalho e no contexto de desvaloriza&#231;&#227;o social da profiss&#227;o docente, aspectos percebidos como negativos por esses estudantes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the representations of Education undergraduates about the teaching profession as well as to understand their interest in being a teacher, especially in early childhood, primary and secondary education. Research included 120 students from the Education degree course at Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS), both in an intermediate or senior stage. Students were asked to answer a self-applicable questionnaire that inquired about their representations about being a teacher, how they evaluated the choice for that specific degree and their interest in the teaching profession. Data was statistically treated and contents were analyzed according to Bardin (2010). The main results include that students gave high importance to teachers for society but they acknowledge that the profession is not socially valued, a factor that emerged as one of the major reasons for dissatisfaction at the choice of the Education degree. Even though a significant number of respondents (79.8 percent) mentioned their intention of being a classroom teacher, most of them did not show interest in a long-term (over 10 years&#180; time) dedication to this activity. Results allowed to consider that, although the positive image of teacher&#180;s social role contributes to add interest in or admiration for the profession, this sole aspect seems insufficient to motivate the permanence of students in such career, pointing to the need for changes in the working conditions and in the context of social devaluation of the teaching profession, aspects perceived as negative by these students.]]></p></abstract>
