</abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en">
Abstract: Computers has become an important assistive technology resource for children and young people with cerebral palsy. However, due to motor deficits in the upper limbs these individuals may have difficulties accessing the computer. Thus, it is important know how this population uses the computer, how the access occurs and if uses some type of specific resource or accessibility options to assist this activity. The objective of the study was to identify the profile of Brazilian children and young people with cerebral palsy uses computers and check if there is an association between motor impairment, gender and computer use. Participants were 37 parents of Brazilian children and cerebral palsy young people classified as level I and V in the Manual Skills Classification System for Children with Cerebral Palsy (MACS) and in the Extended and Revised Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS). For data collection, participants answered individually the Computer Access Questionnaire, translated and adapted for Brazilian Portuguese. The data were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and the chi-square test was performed to evaluate the association between the variables. The data indicated that there is an association between computer use and MACS level and between computer use and topographic distribution, but there is no evidence of an association between computer use and the user's gender, and the use of computer and The GMFCS level). The data also allowed participants to be characterized in terms of access to and use of the computer and other devices, as well as knowledge about accessibility.Although the computer facilitates children and young people with cerebral palsy access to information, a portion of this population still doesn’t have access to this equipment, and many families don’t know accessibility options available in the computer.
</abstract>
