<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en">
ABSTRACT The article presents the partial assessment of Pilot Project "One Laptop per Student" (in Portuguese, “Um Computador por Aluno - UCA”), developed by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC), and based on thirteen structured interviews with public school principals from six different states, between July 2013 and February 2014. The objective is to approach the criteria for the selection of the schools, the need to train teachers and managers, to point at the infrastructure and support, as well as towards aspects related to Mobility, Time and Use in Schools and Apprenticeship, comparing this reality perceived by the Directors with concepts and proposals that were formulated during the of “UCA” project formation, which appeared in the disposable MEC documents. The outcome shows the enthusiasm of those involved with the Project and the deep concern with gaps and mistakes, especially the non-continuity of the Project in the articulation and talks between the Federal Government, States and municipalities. The closing remarks point towards the complexity of the theme, combined with its full topicality and the requirement of resumption and expansion of the project, allowing a rigorous Government review through the full implementation of the pilot project.
</abstract>
