O texto é subsidiado por um conjunto de pesquisas, algumas das quais de base etnográfica, que no decorrer de mais de uma década vêm sendo realizadas nas escolas da rede. Demonstramos que as iniciativas ensejadas nessa rede de ensino se conectam às lutas por justiça social e justiça curricular, conceitos que expomos e discutimos no artigo. A análise dos dados obtidos nas pesquisas revela que, com o passar do tempo, a RMEPOA sofreu profundas transformações, sobretudo com a introdução de políticas que precarizaram a complexa estrutura do projeto Escola Cidadã, iniciativa de democratização vivida na RMEPOA entre 1989 e 2004. Concluímos mostrando que a memória dessa experiência e a capacidade criativa das escolas oferecem exemplos de lutas e da resistência propositiva dentro das escolas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT This paper presents the educational experience of the Porto Alegre Municipal Education District (RMEPOA) and the challenges of keeping alive the legacy of a counter-hegemonic project in times of policies of the New Right. Data come from three research projects, some of which using ethnography, which, over the course of a decade, have been conducted in the district schools. We demonstrate that the initiatives built within this district are connected to the struggles for social justice and curricular justice, concepts that we present and analyze in the paper. The analysis of the data show that over time RMEPOA has undergone profound changes, particularly with the introduction of policies that partially deconstructed the complex structure of the Citizen School project, a democratization initiative lived in the RMEPOA between 1989 and 2004. We conclude showing that the memory of this experience and the creative capability of the schools provide examples of struggles and potent resistance inside the schools.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Este artículo presenta la experiencia educativa de la Red de Educación Municipal de Porto Alegre (RMEPOA) y los desafíos de mantener vivo el legado de un proyecto contra hegemónico en tiempos de avances de políticas de la Nueva Derecha. El texto está respaldado por un conjunto de investigaciones, algunas de las cuales están basadas en etnografía, que en el transcurso de más de una década se han llevado a cabo en las escuelas de la red. Demostramos que las iniciativas dirigidas a esta red escolar están conectadas a las luchas por la justicia social y la justicia curricular, conceptos que presentamos y discutimos en el artículo. El análisis de los datos obtenidos en la investigación revela que, con el tiempo, el RMEPOA ha sufrido cambios profundos, especialmente con la introducción de políticas que precarian la compleja estructura del proyecto Escuela Ciudadana, la iniciativa de democratización que la RMEPOA vivió entre 1989 y 2004.
