Os resultados dessas políticas são evidenciados na análise do perfil de estudantes de escolas públicas que ingressaram em universidades públicas, notadamente nas federais, a partir da implementação de programas que possibilitaram o acesso, a permanência e a formação de indivíduos até então alijados desse nível educacional. A análise do perfil dos estudantes, sua trajetória acadêmica e as estratégias de apoio à sua permanência na universidade foi realizada por estatísticas descritivas de dados retirados do Censo da Educação Superior de 2018, disponibilizado pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep). Concluímos que não há dúvida de que os poucos avanços alcançados na superação de barreiras para o acesso de estudantes de escolas públicas em universidades públicas, nos últimos anos, estão em risco com os retrocessos em curso e as ameaças diante de um futuro incerto.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article discusses the threats to the recent advances made with social policies directed to the democratization of Brazilian higher education, imposed by the austerity policies that dominate the current government's economic proposals. The results of these policies are evidenced in the analysis of the profile of students from public schools that have entered public universities, especially federal ones, through the implementation of programs that allowed the access, permanence and training of individuals hitherto excluded from this educational level. The analysis of students' profile, academic trajectory and strategies to support their stay at the university was performed using descriptive statistics from data taken from the 2018 Higher Education Census, available from the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research of Brazil (Inep). We conclude that there is no doubt that the few advances that have been made in overcoming barriers to public school students' access to public universities in recent years are at risk from ongoing setbacks and threats in the face of an uncertain future.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo analiza las amenazas impuestas por las políticas de austeridad que dominan las propuestas económicas del gobierno actual por los progresos logrados con las políticas sociales dirigidas a la democratización de la educación superior en Brasil. Los resultados de estas políticas se ponen de manifiesto en el análisis del perfil de los estudiantes de las escuelas públicas que han ingresado en las universidades públicas, en particular en las instituiciones federales, a través de los programas que permiten el acceso, la permanencia y la formación con éxito de los individuos alejados de la educación superior hasta entonces. El análisis del perfil de los estudiantes, su trayectoria académica y las estrategias institucionales para apoyar su permanencia en la universidad se realiza por estadística descriptiva de datos tomados del Censo de la Educación Superior de 2018, proporcionados por el Instituto Nacional de Estudios e Investigaciones Educacionales Anísio Teixeira (INEP). Concluimos que no hay duda de que los pocos avances alcanzados en la superación de los obstáculos para el acceso de estudiantes de escuelas públicas en las universidades públicas, en los últimos años, estan en riesgo con los retrocesos en curso y las amenazas ante a un futuro incierto.]]></p></abstract>
