O recorte da investiga&#231;&#227;o foi a &#8220;forma&#231;&#227;o para a cidadania&#8221;, s&#243; poss&#237;vel &#8220;pela cidadania&#8221;, como processo de conscientiza&#231;&#227;o pelos sujeitos, de acordo com a perspectiva cr&#237;tica adotada. Al&#233;m de pesquisa bibliogr&#225;fica, foram realizadas entrevistas com especialistas na modalidade a dist&#226;ncia do Brasil, de Portugal e da Venezuela. O trabalho considera que uma educa&#231;&#227;o cidad&#227; &#233; capaz de contribuir com a emancipa&#231;&#227;o pelos sujeitos em qualquer modalidade. E discute dados e situa&#231;&#245;es encontradas na educa&#231;&#227;o a dist&#226;ncia na proposi&#231;&#227;o das seguintes condi&#231;&#245;es: educa&#231;&#227;o pela cidadania; trabalho coletivo; di&#225;logo mediatizado pelo mundo; organiza&#231;&#227;o participativa e flex&#237;vel do ensino; coer&#234;ncia quanto aos materiais de estudo; e articula&#231;&#227;o com movimentos sociais em rede.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper synthesizes six conditions for an emancipatory distance education, results from a Ph.D. research. The focus is the &#8220;formation for citizenship&#8221;, only possible &#8220;by the citizenship&#8221;, as consciousness process by the individuals, according to the critical perspective adopted. In addition to literature review, interviews were conducted with experts of distance modality from Brazil, Portugal and Venezuela. The work considers that a citizenship education is able to contribute to the emancipation by the individuals in any modality. And discusses data and situations regarding distance education proposing the following conditions: education by citizenship; collective work; mediated (dialectical mediation) dialogue by the world; participative and flexible design instructional; coherent study materials; and articulation with network social movements.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este art&#237;culo hace una s&#237;ntesis, resultante de una investigaci&#243;n de doctorado, de seis condiciones para una educaci&#243;n emancipadora a distancia. El sesgo del estudio fue la &#8220;formaci&#243;n para la ciudadan&#237;a&#8221;, posible solamente &#8220;por medio de la ciudadan&#237;a&#8221; como proceso de concientizaci&#243;n por y de los sujetos, de acuerdo con la perspectiva cr&#237;tica adoptada. Adem&#225;s de investigaci&#243;n bibliogr&#225;fica, se realizaron entrevistas con especialistas en la modalidad a distancia de Brasil, Portugal y Venezuela. El trabajo considera que una educaci&#243;n ciudadana contribuye a la emancipaci&#243;n de y por los sujetos en cualquier modalidad. Tambi&#233;n discute datos y situaciones encontradas en la educaci&#243;n a distancia en la proposici&#243;n de las siguientes condiciones: educaci&#243;n por medio de la ciudadan&#237;a; trabajo colectivo, di&#225;logo mediatizado por el mundo, organizaci&#243;n participativa y flexible de la ense&#241;anza, coherencia respecto a los materiales de estudio y articulaci&#243;n con movimientos sociales en red.]]></p></abstract>
