Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista individual aplicada a um grupo de cinco professores de Língua Portuguesa. Cada entrevista foi gravada e transcrita para posterior análise. A partir das declarações obtidas, evidenciou-se que, mesmo se tratando de uma escola especializada para o ensino de surdos, os resultados referentes à apropriação da leitura e escrita desses alunos não representam grande sucesso. Existe, pois, um problema evidente que está para além da formação docente, trata-se das práticas utilizadas em sala de aula e/ou a dinâmica pedagógica pensada/disseminada para o ensino de surdos na atualidade. Diante dessa constatação, é mister um (re)pensar dos fundamentos que permeiam a escolarização desses sujeitos, levando em conta sua cultura e suas peculiaridades. Por conseguinte, é necessário a busca por práticas que mais se aproximam da sua realidade, de modo que esse aluno tenha condições de atuar assumindo seu papel enquanto cidadão pleno, tendo condições de se posicionar enquanto sujeito social. Dessa forma, foge-se de estratégias que apontam para uma padronização das diferenças, as quais dificultam a apropriação da língua escrita, uma vez que todos os alunos, sem a exceção dos surdos, necessitam de conhecimento de mundo para que possam (re)contextualizar o escrito e, daí, derivar o sentido.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT This study aims to reveal the current situation of schooling of deaf students who attend high school, as well as the reading and writing practices adopted in the context of a school specialized in teaching the deaf in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Data were collected through an individual interview applied to a group of five Portuguese Language teachers. Each interview was recorded and transcribed for later analysis. From the statements obtained, it was evidenced that, even if it is a specialized school for the teaching of the deaf, the results regarding the appropriation of the reading and writing of these students do not represent great success. There is, therefore, an obvious problem that is beyond teacher training, which is the practices used in the classroom and / or the pedagogical dynamics thought / disseminated for the teaching of deaf people today. Faced with this, it is necessary to (re) think the fundamentals that permit the schooling of these subjects, taking into account their culture and their peculiarities. Therefore, it is necessary to search for practices that are closest to their reality, so that this student is able to act by assuming his role as a full citizen, being able to position himself as a social subject. Thus, it escapes strategies that point to a standardization of differences, which hinders the appropriation of written language, since all students, without the exception of the deaf, need world knowledge in order to (re) contextualize the writing and, hence, derive the meaning.]]></p></abstract>
