De um lado, no que se refere ao exame das finalidades ideais, as fontes de investiga&#231;&#227;o inclu&#237;ram: as ideias educacionais veiculadas em livros, jornais e revistas; as legisla&#231;&#245;es de ensino; as not&#237;cias veiculadas pela imprensa de modo geral e a pedag&#243;gica de modo particular; os programas de ensino; os manuais; etc. De outro lado, no que se refere &#224; realidade pedag&#243;gica, as fontes inclu&#237;ram: cadernos de alunos, provas escolares, iconografia, imprensa escolar; depoimentos orais; etc. A experi&#234;ncia de investiga&#231;&#227;o comportou, primeiramente, o levantamento minucioso dos programas e dos manuais de Hist&#243;ria da Educa&#231;&#227;o em circula&#231;&#227;o no Brasil desde o in&#237;cio da vig&#234;ncia da disciplina, a partir dos quais, foi poss&#237;vel desenvolver uma s&#233;rie de esfor&#231;os de interpreta&#231;&#227;o sobre o conte&#250;do definido para dissemina&#231;&#227;o na disciplina. Ao lado deste esfor&#231;o, outro, de maior envergadura, que se refere ao exame das pr&#225;ticas de ensino da disciplina Hist&#243;ria da Educa&#231;&#227;o em institui&#231;&#245;es escolares espec&#237;ficas. As conclus&#245;es das investiga&#231;&#245;es realizadas indicam o papel central de programas e manuais na formata&#231;&#227;o das finalidades ideais da disciplina Hist&#243;ria da Educa&#231;&#227;o, todavia, com baixo n&#237;vel de correspond&#234;ncia entre os objetivos fixados e a realidade pedag&#243;gica da disciplina.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Theoretical and methodological reflection from experience of investigation on the academic program of History of Education in secondary school and higher education in Brazil. Concerning examination of its ideal purposes, the sources of investigation included the educational ideals conveyed in books, newspapers, and magazines; teaching legislation; news conveyed by the press in general and pedagogical publications in particular; teaching programs; teaching manuals; etc. In contrast, concerning pedagogical reality, the sources included student notebooks, school tests, iconography, school press, oral testimony, etc. The experience of investigation included, first, a detailed survey of the teaching programs and manuals of History of Education in circulation in Brazil since the time it came into effect as an academic subject, and based on this, it was possible to develop a series of attempts at interpretation of the content defined for dissemination in the discipline. In addition to this effort is another, of greater scale, in regard to examination of teaching practices of the academic discipline History of Education in specific school institutions. The conclusions of investigations undertaken indicate the central role of programs and manuals in establishing the ideal purposes of the discipline History of Education; however, the established objectives did not greatly correspond to the pedagogical reality of the discipline. ]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Reflexi&#243;n te&#243;rica y metodol&#243;gica realizada a partir de la experiencia de investigaci&#243;n sobre el itinerario disciplinar de la Historia de la Educaci&#243;n en la escuela secundaria y superior brasilera. De un lado, en lo que se refiere al examen de las finalidades ideales, las fuentes de investigaci&#243;n incluyeron: las ideas educativas vehiculadas en libros, peri&#243;dicos y revistas; la legislaci&#243;n sobre la ense&#241;anza; las noticias vehiculadas por la prensa de modo general y la pedagog&#237;a de modo particular; los programas de ense&#241;anza; los manuales; etc. De otro lado, en lo que se refiere a la realidad pedag&#243;gica, las fuentes incluyeron; cuadernos de alumnos, pruebas escolares, iconograf&#237;a, prensa escolar; declaraciones orales; etc. La experiencia de investigaci&#243;n incluyo, primeramente, el levantamiento minucioso de los programas y de los manuales de Historia de la educaci&#243;n en circulaci&#243;n en Brasil desde el inicio de la vigencia de la disciplina, a partir de los cuales, fue posible desarrollar una serie de esfuerzos de interpretaci&#243;n sobre el contenido definido para diseminaci&#243;n en la disciplina. ]]></p></abstract>
