Assim, narra-se numa perspectiva cr&#237;tica v&#225;rios acontecimentos e momentos importantes &#224; efetiva&#231;&#227;o da Educa&#231;&#227;o de Jovens e Adultos como Modalidade de Ensino, o que ocorreu a partir da Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educa&#231;&#227;o Nacional, Lei n&#186;9394/96, bem como a integra&#231;&#227;o dessa Modalidade de Ensino com a Educa&#231;&#227;o Profissional, atrav&#233;s do Decreto n&#176;5.478/2005, substitu&#237;do ap&#243;s um ano pelo Decreto n&#186; 5.840/2006, que instituiu o PROEJA.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  This text aims to present reflections on the trajectory of educational policies for youth and adults throughout the history of education in Brazil until his encounter with professional education, through the National Program for the Integration of Vocational Education in Basic Education in the form Education for Youth and Adults - PROEJA. So, is narrated by a critical number of important events and the effectiveness of the Youth and Adult Education as a mode of instruction, which occurred from the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education Law No. 9394/96 time perspective as well as the integration this mode of education to professional education, through Decree No. 5.478/2005, replaced after one year by Decree 5.840/2006, which established PROEJA. ]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Este texto tiene por objetivo presentar reflexiones al respecto de la trayectoria de las pol&#237;ticas educativas para j&#243;venes y adultos a lo largo de la historia de la educaci&#243;n en Brasil hasta su encuentro con la educci&#243;n profesional, a trav&#233;s del Programa Nacional de Integraci&#243;n de la Educaci&#243;n Profesional con la Educaci&#243;n B&#225;sica en la modalidad de educaci&#243;n de J&#243;venes y Adultos -PROEJA.
