A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa, segundo os moldes da análise documental. Analisa-se a compreensão científica de estudantes premiados com bolsas de iniciação científica júnior, participantes da Feira de Ciências do Território do Alto Paraguai, em Mato Grosso, em 2016. O objetivo específico foi o de identificar características da compreensão científica desencadeada pela valorização do conhecimento construído por esses bolsistas. Os dados obtidos a partir de documentos da autoria desses estudantes (projetos e relatórios) revelaram que, além de ser um evento importante, a feira é uma estratégica metodológica mediadora da Educação e incentiva as atividades científicas por meio da socialização e do intercâmbio que possibilita.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article analyzes how Science Fairs can be an opportunity for learning and for the formation of a scientific identity in the context of Basic Education. The objective is to analyze the scientific understanding of students who were granted junior scientific fellowships, who took part in the &#8220;Feira de Ciências do Território do Alto Paraguai&#8221;, in Mato Grosso, Brazil, in 2016. The specific objective was to find, in this event, the characteristics of the scientific comprehension triggered by the valuing of knowledge. The data obtained from the documents of the students (projects and reports) revealed that, besides being an important event, fair is a mediatory methodological education strategy and encourages scientific activities through the socialization and exchange it enables.]]></p></abstract>
