Consideramos iniciante os professores com até 3 anos de experiência e jovem aqueles com até 32 anos, que realizaram, sequencialmente, graduação, mestrado e doutorado e, em seguida, ingressaram na docência. Na pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa, coletamos os dados por meio de entrevistas com 6 jovens professores iniciantes vinculados à Universidade Federal de Pelotas e por observações de aulas de graduação desses docentes. Os dados, trabalhados através da análise de conteúdo, foram interpretados a partir de teorias sobre a formação docente e a iniciação à docência. Para os professores, a condição jovem não é um fator de padronização ou de causalidade nas formas de ser, de atuar ou de se relacionar com os alunos. Porém, essa condição produz no professor vivências tanto motivadoras quanto limitações que são vividas em paralelos, enquanto constroem suas identidades docentes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to understand the young condition of teachers in the beginning phase of university teaching. We consider beginners to be teachers with up to 3 years of experience and young to those up to 32 years old, who sequentially completed undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees and then joined teaching. In the qualitative research, we collected the data through interviews with 6 young beginning teachers linked to the Federal University of Pelotas and observations of undergraduate classes of these teachers. The data, worked through content analysis, were interpreted from theories about teacher education and initiation to teaching. For teachers, youthfulness is not a factor of standardization or causality in the ways of being, acting or relating to students. However, this condition produces in the teacher both motivating experiences and limitations that are lived in parallel, while building their teaching identities.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El objetivo de este estudio fue comprender la condición joven de los docentes al comienzo de la enseñanza universitaria. Consideramos que los principiantes son maestros con hasta 3 años de experiencia y jóvenes son aquellos con hasta 32 años, que completaron secuencialmente licenciaturas, maestrías y doctorados y luego ascendieron a la profesión docente. En la investigación cualitativa, recopilamos los datos a través de entrevistas con 6 maestros principiantes jóvenes vinculados a la Universidad Federal de Pelotas y de observaciones de las clases de grado de estos maestros. Los datos, trabajados a través del análisis de contenido, fueron interpretados a partir de teorías sobre la formación docente y la iniciación a la enseñanza. Para los maestros, la juventud no es un factor de estandarización o causalidad en las formas de ser, actuar o relacionarse con los estudiantes. Sin embargo, esta condición produce en el maestro experiencias motivadoras y limitaciones que se viven en paralelo, mientras construye sus identidades de enseñanza.]]></p></abstract>
