Os participantes foram estudantes de duas turmas do 3º ano do Ensino Fundamental. A pesquisa, guiada pela Etnografia em Educação, baseou-se em notas de campo e registros em vídeo derivados de observação participante para desenvolver análises macroscópicas. Identificaram-se eventos significativos em cada turma para análise microscópica das transcrições, com uma perspectiva contrastiva. Nas duas turmas, a interação entre os participantes e os bonecos possibilitou a participação em práticas sociais da ciência escolar, porém, a trajetória de cada turma e as características dos bonecos tiveram consequências para como interações e conhecimentos foram construídos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN: Este estudio investiga la participación de niños en actividades en clase que abordaron directamente la imagen del científico, involucrando juegos con &#8220;muñecos científicos&#8221;, y su objetivo es caracterizar y comprender la construcción de las relaciones entre los niños y la ciencia y el científico. Participaron estudiantes de dos clases del tercer grado de la Educación Primaria. La investigación, guiada por la Etnografía en Educación, se basó en notas de campo y registros de videos derivados de la observación participante para desarrollar análisis macroscópicos. Se identificaron eventos significativos en cada clase para el análisis microscópico de las transcripciones, con una perspectiva contrastiva. En las dos clases, la interacción entre los participantes y los muñecos posibilitó la participación en prácticas sociales de ciencia escolar, pero la trayectoria de cada clase y las características de los muñecos tuvieron consecuencias en cómo se construyeron las interacciones y conocimientos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT: This study investigates children&#8217;s participation in activities that address directly the issue of scientists&#8217; images, and that involve play with &#8220;scientists&#8217; dolls&#8221;. It aims to describe and to understand processes of building relations between children, science and the scientist. The participants were 3rd graders from two different classes. Informed by Ethnography of Education and based on field notes and video records derived from participant observation, we developed initially macroscopic analysis, identifying significative events from each class to develop a microscopic analysis based on transcripts. In the two classes participants&#8217; interactions with the dolls provided opportunities to engage in social practices of school Science. However, each class&#8217; history, and characteristics of the doll had consequences for how the interactions and knowledge was constructed.]]></p></abstract>
