<self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1983-92782025000200107&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1983-92782025000200107&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1983-92782025000200107&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo O presente artigo, de cunho qualitativo e teórico, objetiva a discussão sobre a democracia da escola pública no Brasil, a partir das dimensões de gestão democrática propostas por Lima (2014), desdobradas na perspectiva de espaços e processos de gestão democrática (Bittencourt, 2023), sob a compreensão de uma sociedade democrática pluralista (Mouffe, 2015). Nessa sociedade, antagonismos e conflitos são irremediáveis, estão presentes e carecem de instituições que sejam lugar para a expressão adversarial, que afasta encarar o outro como inimigo que precisa ser eliminado. Desse modo, a escola pública oferece um campo fértil através de órgãos colegiados e da eleição de diretores para o aprendizado da democracia e para o exercício do agonismo. Defende-se, ainda, junto a Lima (2014) e Bobbio (2017) a democracia como processual, que mudou desde a sua origem até a democracia contemporânea, como conhecemos, e que não esteve garantida no passado, não está garantida no presente e não estará no futuro, de forma que demanda constante vigilância para que não se desidrate (Amaral, 2019). Entende-se que a escola pública não se constitui como uma mera reprodutora dos eventos e fatos que acontecem ao seu redor, por essa razão, pode assumir junto à sociedade democrática um movimento rotatório e de retroalimentação, mas não cíclico e sem desvios, considerando-a como parte integrante e fundamental desta sociedade.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article, of a qualitative and theoretical nature, aims to discuss public school democracy in Brazil, based on the dimensions of democratic management proposed by Lima (2014), unfolded from the perspective of spaces and processes of democratic management (Bittencourt, 2023), under the understanding of a pluralistic democratic society (Mouffe, 2015), in which antagonisms and conflicts are irremediable. It is understood that the public school does not merely reproduce events occurring around it. Therefore, it can engage in a dynamic interaction with democratic society, characterized by rotational rather than cyclical movements and avoiding feedback deviations, affirming its integral and fundamental role within this society.]]></p></abstract>
