Aborda a democratização da educação no contexto do direito de acesso à escola, enfatizando a trajetória de tais direitos nos contextos brasileiro e guineense. No escopo teórico, adota uma teoria de justiça social cuja amplitude enfatiza as injustiças socioeconômicas (dimensão da redistribuição) e culturais (dimensão do reconhecimento). Em termos metodológicos, trata-se de um estudo comparado que se utiliza de dados de naturezaquali-quantitativos associados à pesquisa bibliográfica, tendo como unidade de comparação a legislação educacional do Brasil e daGuiné-Bissau. A análise destaca que, na década de 1980, o Brasil iniciou a redemocratização das instituições públicas com propósitos que envolveram ações dos governos (municipal, estadual, federal) e da sociedade civil organizada para a educação pública. Já a Guiné-Bissau é um país, no sentido moderno, muito jovem, tanto no que diz respeito à sua emancipação política quanto ao regime democrático; nesse país, o acesso à escola é resultado de um processo ainda em construção e consolidação, através das cooperações com organismos internacionais e &#8220;parceiros&#8221;, como o Brasil. Conclui-se, portanto, que háaproximações nos domínios educacional e cultural, mesmo com distanciamentos históricos a serem também compreendidos e considerados, nessas áreas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT This article proposes a discussion about the access to basic education, in Brazil and Guinea-Bissau, as a publicaction that guarantees the right for education at modern Western societies. Approaches democratization of education at the context of Access to schools, emphasizing the path of such rights at Brazilian and Guinean background. At theorical scope, it adopts a theoryof social justice who seext entemphasizes the socioeconomic injustices (red istribution dimension) and cultural (acknowledge dimension). In methodologicalterms, focus on a qualitative and quantitative study associated to the bibliography research, having the educational legislation of Brazil and Guinee-Bissau as comparison tool. The analysis highlight that, at the 1980s decade, the redemocratization of public institution began at Brazil, with purposes that evolved governmental actions (municipal, state, federal) and civil society organized for publiceducation. In opposition, Guinea-Bissauis a country, at modern way, very young, both at its politic emancipation and democratic system; atthis country, the Access toschoolistheresultof a processthatis still in construction and consolidation, throughcooperationwithinternationalorganizations and &#8220;partners&#8221; likeBrazil. Thereare, therefore, approaches ateducational and cultural domain, evenwithhistoricaldistancetoalsobeunderstood and considered, attheseareas.]]></p></abstract>
