Este estudo é de natureza qualitativa, para tanto, foi realizada um estudo empírico. Dez professoras que lecionam na educação infantil participaram da pesquisa. O instrumento definido para a coleta dos dados foi um questionário composto por sete questões. Como resultado, constatou-se que as professoras possuem conhecimentos sobre psicomotricidade e consideram as atividades psicomotoras primordiais para o desenvolvimento das crianças. Entretanto, as atividades ministradas por elas envolvem, basicamente, o equilíbrio e a coordenação motora.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This research verifies and discusses the knowledge gathered by pedagogues on the importance of psychomotor development to childhood education. It is a qualitative study and was carried by means of a empirical research. Ten childhood education teachers took part in this research. Furthermore, the chosen instrument to collect data was a seven-question survey. The findings show that the educators had psychomotor-skill knowledge, and they regarded psychomotor activities as primordial to the children&#8217;s development. However, the activities they prescribed entail, basically, balance and motor coordination.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo verificar y discutir los conocimientos de los pedagogos acerca de la importancia del desarrollo psicomotor en la educación infantil. Este estudio es de naturaleza cualitativa, para lo cual se realizó un estudio empírio. Diez profesoras que enseñan en la educación infantil participaron en la investigación. El instrumento definido para la recolección de los datos fue un cuestionario compuesto por siete cuestiones. Como resultado, se constató que las profesoras poseen conocimientos sobre psicomotricidad y consideran las actividades psicomotoras primordiales para el desarrollo de los niños. Sin embargo, las actividades impartidas por ellas involucran, básicamente, el equilibrio y la coordinación motora.]]></p></abstract>
