Apresenta e discute as implicações desse processo sob as perspectivas conservadora e crítica da educação ambiental e de aspectos teórico-metodológicos da modelagem matemática. A pesquisa foi realizada com quatro turmas do 9º ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública de São Lourenço do Oeste, Santa Catarina. Os dados foram coletados via questionários semiestruturados, registros em diário de campo e entrevista de grupo focal, os quais foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo. Na percepção dos estudantes, a questão não é apenas de ordem natural, mas também socioambiental. Apesar dos registros de comportamentos relacionados a cuidado com a natureza, atitudes e conscientização, houve registros reflexivos e críticos sobre o meio ambiente. Os estudantes apresentaram melhor compreensão da realidade ambiental e da matemática por meio da modelagem matemática.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This research deals with the implementation of environmental education in a Mathematics course-subject by using mathematical modeling. It presents and discusses the repercussions of this process according to the conservative and critical perspectives on environmental education and of the theoretical and methodological aspects of mathematical modeling. This research was conducted in four classes of the 9th-grade of an elementary public school in the city of São Lourenço do Oeste, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Data were collected through semi-structured surveys, notes on a field diary, and focal group interviews, all which was later submitted to content analysis. By the students&#8217; perception, the issue is not merely environmental, but rather socio-environmental. Even though it was recorded a behavior of diligence with nature, propriety and awareness, there has been also records of a reflective and critical demeanor regarding the environmental. Students have shown a better understanding of the environmental reality and a better understanding of mathematics through mathematical modeling.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Este artículo investiga sobre la práctica de la educación ambiental en la asignatura de matemática. Presenta y discute las implicaciones de este proceso bajo las perspectivas conservadoras y críticas de la educación ambiental y de aspectos teórico-metodológicos del modelaje matemática. La investigación fue realizada con cuatro clases del 9º año de la enseñanza básica de una escuela pública de São Lourenço do Oeste, Santa Catarina. Los datos fueran colectados vía cuestionarios semiestructurados, registros en diario de campo y entrevista de grupo focal, los cuales fueran sometidos al análisis de contenido. En la percepción de los estudiantes, la cuestión no es solamente de orden natural, pero también socioambiental. A pesar de los registros de comportamientos relacionados a cuidado con la naturaleza, actitudes y concientización, hubo registros reflexivos y críticos acerca del medio ambiente. Los estudiantes presentaran mejor comprensión de la realidad ambiental y de la matemática por medio del modelaje matemática.]]></p></abstract>
