Sua influ&#234;ncia e poder extrapolaram os aspectos puramente religiosos e espirituais. No seu interior, o monge dedicava-se basicamente &#224; ora&#231;&#227;o e ao trabalho (ora et labora), mas tamb&#233;m havia espa&#231;o para o estudo e a leitura. Na Europa Medieval, o estudo era um privil&#233;gio de poucos, um luxo do clero e da nobreza. As escolas existiam basicamente em institui&#231;&#245;es eclesiais, par&#243;quias, catedrais e mosteiros. No entanto, foi nos mosteiros que a escola teve mais efetividade e organiza&#231;&#227;o. Quase todos possu&#237;am escolas que preparavam seus novi&#231;os para a vida mon&#225;stica. A leitura e a escrita permitiam o acesso &#224; b&#237;blia e a integra&#231;&#227;o do monge no complexo arranjo lit&#250;rgico da vida mon&#225;stica. O fim &#250;ltimo da educa&#231;&#227;o n&#227;o era o conhecimento em si, mas a salva&#231;&#227;o. Este artigo analisa a din&#226;mica social, a did&#225;tica e a pedag&#243;gica no interior de uma escola mon&#225;stica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Monasteries were great centers of civilization in the Middle Age. Their influence and power extrapolated purely religious and spiritual aspects. In its interior, the monk basically dedicated himself to prayers and work (ora et labora), but there was also room for studying and reading. In Medieval Europe, studying was a privilege of the few, and luxury of the clergy and nobility. Basically, there were schools in church institutions, parishes, cathedrals and monasteries. However, it was in the monasteries that the school had more effectiveness and organization. Almost all of them had schools that prepared their novices to the monastic life. Reading and writing allowed the integration of the monk in the liturgical complex arrangement of monastic life. The ultimate goal of education was not knowledge itself, but salvation. This article analyzes the social dynamics, the didactic and pedagogy inside a monastic school.]]></p></abstract>
