A metodologia est&#225; embasada em pesquisa documental e bibliogr&#225;fica. O arco cronol&#243;gico abrange desde o per&#237;odo colonial at&#233; a d&#233;cada de 1930. Mostra-se que alian&#231;as e embates quanto ao Ensino Religioso na hist&#243;ria da educa&#231;&#227;o brasileira foram nutridos desde os prim&#243;rdios devido &#224;s influ&#234;ncias da Igreja Cat&#243;lica e de autoridades eclesi&#225;sticas, assim como de outras institui&#231;&#245;es e intelectuais defensores de princ&#237;pios e valores religiosos. E que durante o Imp&#233;rio, bem como nos anos 1930 da era republicana, podem ser situados aspectos centrais e que constitu&#237;ram a base para a configura&#231;&#227;o e caracteriza&#231;&#227;o das pol&#234;micas e das formas de organiza&#231;&#227;o da escola brasileira quanto ao Ensino Religioso, embasados e orientados pela emerg&#234;ncia e consolida&#231;&#227;o de controv&#233;rsias entre religi&#227;o e laicidade, sendo o papel do Estado, na forma&#231;&#227;o cultural e escolariza&#231;&#227;o da popula&#231;&#227;o, um dos n&#250;cleos centrais do debate.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Analytical elements that relate processes of juridical regulation and school control on Religious Education are provided. The methodology is based on documentary and bibliographic research. Chronology extends from the colonial period to the 1930s and shows that alliances and clashes on Religious Education in Brazilian education history were nurtured from the start through the influence of the Catholic Church, ecclesiastical authorities, several institutions and intellectual defenders of religious values and principles. The principle aspects which foregrounded the basis for the setting and characterization of the controversy and forms of Brazilian school organization and the Religious Education may be perceived during the Brazilian Empire period up to the 1930s within the Republican Period. They were based on the emergence and consolidation of antagonism between religion and secularism, highlighting the role of the State in its cultural training and schooling of the population as one of the central factors of the debate.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Este trabajo presenta elementos anal&#237;ticos que relacionan procesos de reglamentaci&#243;n jur&#237;dica y de control de la escuela en cuanto a la Ense&#241;anza Religiosa. La metodolog&#237;a est&#225; basada en investigaci&#243;n documental y bibliogr&#225;fica. El arco cronol&#243;gico comprende desde el per&#237;odo colonial hasta la d&#233;cada de 1930. Se demuestra que alianzas y disputas en cuanto a la Ense&#241;anza Religiosa en la historia de la educaci&#243;n brasile&#241;a fueron nutridas desde los inicios debido a las influencias de la Iglesia Cat&#243;lica y de autoridades eclesi&#225;sticas, del mismo modo que de otras instituciones e intelectuales defensores de principios y valores religiosos. Y que durante el Imperio, as&#237; como en los a&#241;os 1930 de la era republicana, pueden ser ubicados aspectos centrales y que constituyeron la base para la configuraci&#243;n y caracterizaci&#243;n de las pol&#233;micas y de las formas de organizaci&#243;n de la escuela brasile&#241;a en cuanto a la Ense&#241;anza Religiosa, basados y orientados por la urgencia y consolidaci&#243;n de controversias entre religi&#243;n y laicidad, siendo el papel del Estado, en la formaci&#243;n cultural y escolarizaci&#243;n de la poblaci&#243;n, uno de los n&#250;cleos centrales del debate.]]></p></abstract>
