Por meio de análise documental, buscou-se identificar a profissão dos responsáveis pelas matrículas das crianças registrada nos Livros de Matrículas desse grupo até 1920. Foram localizadas 134 profissões que foram divididas em 4 categorias de análise: Trabalhadores Pobres; Trabalhadores das Camadas Médias; Elite; Indefinidas. Apesar de a presença das elites ter sido facilitada nesse espaço tendo em vista sua localização central no município, o Grupo Escolar foi predominantemente ocupado por filhos e filhas de trabalhadores pobres e das camadas médias - de domésticas à operários, de negociantes à lavradores e professores. Assim, ainda que oficialmente os resultados sejam irrisórios quanto ao papel dessa escola na democratização do ensino primário local, a atuação dos trabalhadores nessa direção foi simbolicamente significativa e importante com a persistente e contínua matrícula de suas crianças nesse Grupo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo aborda el perfil de servicio del Segundo Grupo Escolar, Dr. Quirino dos Santos, y su alcance social. A través del análisis documental, se buscó identificar la profesión de los responsables de inscribir a los niños registrados en las Libretas de Matrícula de este grupo, hasta 1920. Se localizaron 134 profesiones y se dividieron en 4 categorías de análisis: Trabajadores Pobres; Trabajadores de Capa Media; Élite; Indefinido. Si bien la presencia de las élites se facilitó en este espacio dada su ubicación central en el municipio, el Grupo Escolar estaba compuesto predominantemente por hijos e hijas de trabajadores pobres y de clases medias: desde empleadas domésticas hasta trabajadores, desde comerciantes hasta agricultores y maestros. Así, aunque oficialmente los resultados son insignificantes respecto al papel de esta escuela en la democratización de la educación primaria local, las acciones de los trabajadores en esta dirección fueron simbólicamente significativas e importantes con la persistente y continua inscripción de sus hijos en este Grupo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article addresses the service profile of the Second School Group, Dr. Quirino dos Santos, and its social scope. Through documentary analysis, we sought to identify the profession of those responsible for enrolling children registered in the group Enrollment Books, until 1920. 134 professions were located and divided into 4 analysis categories: Poor Workers; Middle Layer Workers; Elite; Undefined. Although the presence of elites was facilitated in this space given its central location in the municipality, the School Group was predominantly made up of sons and daughters of poor workers and the middle classes - from maids to workers, from traders to farmers and teachers. Thus, even though officially the results are negligible regarding the role of this school in the democratization of local primary education, the workers' actions in this direction were symbolically significant and important with the persistent and continuous enrollment of their children in this Group.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Résumé Cet article aborde le profil de service du Deuxième Groupe Scolaire, Dr Quirino dos Santos, et sa portée sociale. A travers l'analyse documentaire, nous avons cherché à identifier la profession des responsables de l'inscription des enfants inscrits dans les Livres d'Inscription de ce groupe, jusqu'en 1920. 134 professions ont été repérées et réparties en 4 catégories d'analyse : Ouvriers Pauvres ; Travailleurs de la couche intermédiaire ; Élite; Indéfini. Même si la présence des élites était facilitée dans cet espace compte tenu de sa situation centrale dans la municipalité, le groupe scolaire était majoritairement composé de fils et de filles d'ouvriers pauvres et de classes moyennes - des servantes aux ouvriers, des commerçants aux agriculteurs et aux enseignants. Ainsi, même si officiellement les résultats sont négligeables quant au rôle de cette école dans la démocratisation de l'enseignement primaire local, les actions des travailleurs dans ce sens ont été symboliquement significatives et importantes avec l'inscription persistante et continue de leurs enfants dans ce Groupe.]]></p></abstract>
