Os livros escolhidos são Produção da escola/produção da sociedade: análise sócio-histórica de alguns momentos decisivos da evolução escolar no Ocidente, de André Petitat (1994), e Arqueología de la escuela (1991), de Julia Varela e Fernando Alvarez-Uría. Os dois trabalhos constatam descontinuidade entre as práticas educativas medievais e os colégios modernos, sublinham a função produtora das instituições escolares e o seu caráter classista, mas apresentam diferenças na leitura dos modos de educação e da desigualdade de gênero.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This essay compares two historic sociological studies of contemporary schooling. The books choosen are “Production of school/production of society: socio-historical analysis of some crucial moments of the school evolution in the West”, by Andre Petitat, and “Archeology of the School”, by Julia Varela and Fernando Alvarez-Úria. Both studies identify a break between Medeival educational practices and modern schools, emphasize the productive function of the educational institution and its class character, but present a different interpretation of educational methods and gender inequality.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Cet essai se propose à comparer deux études de sociologie historique sur la scolarisation moderne. Les livres choisis sont “Production de l’école/Production de la société: une analise socio-historique de quelques moments decisifs de l’évolution scolaire dans l’Occident” de André Petitat et “Arqueología de la escuela” de Julia Varela e Fernando Alvarez- Uría. Ces deux travaux signalent des discontinuités entre les pratiques éducatives médiévales et les collèges modernes, en soulignant la fonction productrice des institutions scolaires et son caractère classiste, mais ils presentent également des différences concernant la lecture des modes d’éducation et de l’inégalité de genre.]]></p></abstract>
