Para isso, a metodologia usada consistiu em uma revis&#227;o bibliogr&#225;fica de escritos publicados entre 1996 e 2015 que abordam a evas&#227;o na educa&#231;&#227;o superior e que apresentam a f&#243;rmula de calcul&#225;-la. Foi poss&#237;vel identificar que o uso do termo est&#225; associado a diferentes perspectivas, temporalidades, granularidades e f&#243;rmulas. Tendo isso em vista, a utiliza&#231;&#227;o de tal indicador educacional para diagn&#243;stico, monitoramento e avalia&#231;&#227;o de cursos, institui&#231;&#245;es, sistemas e pol&#237;ticas p&#250;blicas requereria o desenvolvimento de um conceito e uma f&#243;rmula comuns. Colocamos, ent&#227;o, em evid&#234;ncia a pertin&#234;ncia da revis&#227;o desse indicador educacional para evitar o risco de compara&#231;&#245;es que seriam estatisticamente incompar&#225;veis.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este art&#237;culo aborda el indicador educativo de la deserci&#243;n en la educaci&#243;n superior con el objetivo de distinguir y problematizar diferentes concepciones y usos del t&#233;rmino en producciones acad&#233;micas. Para ello, la metodolog&#237;a utilizada consisti&#243; en una revisi&#243;n bibliogr&#225;fica de los escritos publicados entre 1996 y 2015 que abordan la deserci&#243;n en la educaci&#243;n superior y que presentan la f&#243;rmula para calcularla. Fue posible identificar que el uso del t&#233;rmino se asocia con diferentes perspectivas, temporalidades, granularidades y f&#243;rmulas. Teniendo esto en cuenta, el uso de este indicador educativo para el diagn&#243;stico, el monitoreo y la evaluaci&#243;n de cursos, instituciones, sistemas y pol&#237;ticas p&#250;blicas requerir&#237;a el desarrollo de un concepto y una f&#243;rmula comunes. Pusimos en evidencia entonces la pertinencia de la revisi&#243;n de este indicador educativo para evitar el riesgo de comparaciones que ser&#237;an estad&#237;sticamente incomparables.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article discusses the educational indicator of higher education dropout in order to distinguish and problematize different conceptions and uses of the term in academic productions. The methodology consisted of a literature review of articles published between 1996 and 2015 that discuss higher education dropout and present a formula to calculate it. It was possible to verify that the use of the term is associated with different perspectives, temporalities, granularities and formulas. Considering this, the use of such an educational indicator for diagnosis, monitoring and assessment of courses, institutions, systems and public policies would require the development of a common concept and formula. Therefore, we highlight the relevance of reviewing this educational indicator in order to avoid the risk of comparisons that would be statistically incomparable.]]></p></abstract>
