No entanto, poucas pessoas possuem os conhecimentos necessários para exercer sua cidadania. Este estudo tem como objetivo desenvolver um projeto de ensino de Estatística, especificamente sobre análise crítica de dados e tomada de decisão, articulado com o Objetivo de Desenvolvimento Sustentável &#8220;Saúde e Bem-Estar&#8221;, visando fornecer significado para os alunos. A investigação, de cunho qualitativo, baseia-se no projeto estatístico &#8220;Autocuidado: o que a Estatística tem a ver com isso?&#8221;, desenvolvido com estudantes do 8º ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola municipal da cidade de Praia Grande/SP. Os resultados apontam que os estudantes puderam ressignificar seus hábitos de higiene e compreender a importância da Estatística para tomada de decisão. Por fim, entendeu-se que propiciar atividades que expressem a realidade e as experiências dos estudantes e os coloquem como protagonistas no processo de ensino e aprendizagem é uma estratégia relevante para desenvolver um cidadão crítico e letrado em Estatística.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Statistical information has always been present in society&#8217;s decision-making process. However, few people have the necessary knowledge to exercise their citizenship. This study aims to develop a statistics teaching project, specifically on critical data analysis and decision-making, articulated with the Sustainable Development Goal &#8220;Health and Well-Being&#8221;, aiming to provide meaning for students. The qualitative investigation is based on the statistical project &#8220;Self-care: what does statistics have to do with it?&#8221;, developed with students of the 8th year of elementary school in a municipal school in the city of Praia Grande/SP. The results indicate that students were able to reframe their hygiene habits and understand the importance of statistics in decision making. Finally, it was understood that developing activities that express students&#8217; reality and experiences and place them as main actors in the teaching and learning process is a relevant strategy for developing a critical and literate citizen in statistics.]]></p></abstract>
