A pesquisa tematizou quatro eixos: discursos sobre a formação e a profissão docente no Brasil; baixa na procura pelos cursos de licenciatura; política de financiamento estudantil; e, por fim, expansão da Educação a Distância. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir de documentos coletados no Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep), especialmente os dados do Censo do Ensino Superior (2009-2018). No que se refere ao problema de pesquisa, utilizaram-se autores como Frigotto (2015) e Harvey (2008). Em face disso, concluiu-se que a crise nas licenciaturas se consubstancia em várias frentes, a saber: pela desvalorização ascendente que vêm sofrendo nas últimas décadas, pelas políticas e nova gestão pública, pelo desprestígio social, pela falta de atratividade, pela precarização do ambiente escolar público e pelo abandono da profissão.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article aimed to understand the crisis in teaching degrees, considering their multiple expressions in Brazil over the past two decades. The research focused on four axes: discourses on teacher education and the teaching profession in Brazil; the decline in enrollment in teaching degree programs; student financial aid policies; and, finally, the expansion of Distance Education. The research was conducted based on documents collected from the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP), particularly data from the Higher Education Census (2009-2018). Regarding the research problem, authors such as Frigotto (2015) and Harvey (2008) were used as references. In light of this, it was concluded that the crisis in teaching degrees manifests in several ways, namely: through the increasing devaluation suffered over the past decades, policies and new public management approaches, social discredit, lack of attractiveness, the precariousness of the public school environment, and the abandonment of the profession.]]></p></abstract>

La investigación se centró en cuatro ejes: discursos sobre la formación y la profesión docente en Brasil; baja demanda de carreras universitarias; política de financiación de estudiantes; y, finalmente, ampliación de la Educación a Distancia. La investigación se realizó con base en documentos recopilados del Instituto Nacional de Estudios e Investigaciones Educativas Anísio Teixeira (Inep), especialmente datos del Censo de Educación Superior (2009-2018). En cuanto al problema de investigación se utiliza a autores como Frigotto (2015) y Harvey (2008).
