É no contexto da Modernidade que se atribui à escola, enquanto instituição social, a importante tarefa da socialização das crianças e jovens mediante a construção/reconstrução dos conhecimentos que integram o legado cultural da humanidade. A avaliação nasce com a escola e adquire à luz das tarefas desta a sua legitimidade. Tanto a escola como a avaliação tem papéis vinculados à construção de um mundo humano comum. Com base numa diferenciação entre currículo e pedagogia o texto propõe duas dimensões da avaliação: uma referente à verificação do grau de aprendizagem, que compete às instâncias vinculadas à ordem política, e outra referente ao acompanhamento do processo de aprendizagem, que compete ao educador e à escola. Essas duas dimensões, mesmo que analiticamente separáveis, operam em perspectiva de interdependência e complementaridade.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This text makes a reflection about implication of modernity in the education and consequently to school. Some of the provided tasks for the resistance of school to change of era, although it is important to take a new look on them. The school is a construction of modernity, and that is where it becomes an indispensable social institution, for those who is attributed the function of enabling children and young to the socialization, through the construction/reconstruction of knowledge that comprises the cultural legacy of humanity. The assessment arises with the school and it acquires the light of tasks about its legitimacy. Both the School and the evaluation have related papers to the construction of a common human world. Bases on the distinction between curriculum and pedagogy, the text proposes two dimensions of evaluation: one of them is to check the learning degree that liked in many instances to the political order, and the other one is related to the monitoring of the process of learning, it is for teacher and school. These two dimensions, although analytically separable operate in perspective of interdependence and complementarity.]]></p></abstract>
