Inicio a reflexão por dois aspectos da docência no ensino superior que considero marcantes: a formação do profissional e o aluno adulto. Reflito também sobre os saberes pedagógicos para a docência do ensino superior, os efeitos corrosivos da burocratização pedagógica e os efeitos na desprofissionalização dos docentes. Finalizo, apresentando os desafios contemporâneos para a docência no ensino superior: 1. A educação como mercadoria; 2. A sociedade da informação; 3. A banalização do trabalho docente no ensino superior. Os desafios da docência no ensino superior provocam, muitas vezes, desgastes, juntamente com um sentimento de perda e fracasso. A banalização desse docente é velada e silenciosa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This article is the result of a reflection on my experience as a teacher in higher education, and on the specific characteristics of that teaching. It begins with a discussion of two characteristics of teaching in higher education which I believe are significant: the training of the professional and the adult student. It also reflects on the teaching skills for teaching in higher education, the corrosive effects of the educational bureaucracy, and the de-profissionalization of teachers. Finally, it presents the contemporary challenges to teaching in higher education 1. Education as a commodity, 2. The information society; and 3. The trivialization of teaching in higher education. The challenges of teaching in higher education often cause stress, and a sense of loss and failure. The trivialization of teaching is veiled and silent.]]></p></abstract>
