Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste artigo recai sobre a seguinte quest&#227;o: quais propostas para o ensino de aritm&#233;tica podem ser lidas nos documentos oficiais da d&#233;cada de 1940? O ferramental te&#243;rico-metodol&#243;gico nas an&#225;lises empreendidas no artigo s&#227;o proveniente da Hist&#243;ria Cultural. Verificamos que o programa de 1946 apresentou uma s&#233;rie de inova&#231;&#245;es de car&#225;ter estrutural e did&#225;tico-pedag&#243;gico, visando instituir um curr&#237;culo que possibilitasse o contato das crian&#231;as com os conhecimentos &#250;teis &#224; vida pr&#225;tica e social. ]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The New School movement in Brazil acquires notoriety around 1920, despite the fact that in Santa Catarina State the modifications in elementary school's teaching methods were only implemented officially in the decade of 1940. In this context, this article aims to the matter: which proposals to arithmetic's teaching can be read on official documents in the decade of 1940? The theoretical-methodological tooling applied in the article's analysis is prevenient from Cultural History. We found that the 1946 program presented many innovations related to the structural and didactic-pedagogic fields, seeking to institute a Curriculum that could make feasible to children to experience knowledge useful to the practical and social life.]]></p></abstract>
