A análise centra-se no seguinte questionamento: qual a importância de uma vida examinada e quais as implicações dessa condição para a formação do sujeito na atual sociedade complexa e plural? Partindo do diagnóstico de Nussbaum sobre a tendência mundial de se reduzir a educação a um processo de capacitação para o mercado, procura-se avaliar a importância e as exigências das reflexões da pensadora americana ao propor uma educação na perspectiva socrática, apontando a necessidade da reflexão e o desenvolvimento da capacidade de argumentação como bases da formação pedagógica. Considera-se que a retomada da pedagogia socrática proposta pela autora apresenta-se como importante referência para o desenvolvimento de uma formação humanística de cada indivíduo e a construção de uma sociedade democrática.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The following article is based on Martha Nussbaum&#8217;s thoughts about the meaning of an examined life in contemporary education. The analysis focuses on the following questions: what is the importance of an examined life and what are the implications of this condition for the formation of individuals in today's complex and plural society? Starting from Nussbaum's diagnosis of the worldwide tendency of reducing education to a process of market empowerment, the aim here is to evaluate Nussbaum&#8217;s importance and demands in proposing an education under the Socratic perspective, by pointing out the need for reflection and the development of the capacity of argumentation as bases of the pedagogical formation. It is considered that the Socratic pedagogy, as proposed by the author, is an important reference for the development of a humanistic formation of each individual and the construction of a democratic society.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El artículo tiene como referencia las reflexiones de Martha Nussbaum relativas al tema del sentido de una vida examinada en la educación contemporánea. El análisis se centra en el siguiente cuestionamiento: ¿cuál es la importancia de una vida examinada y cuáles las implicaciones de esa condición para la formación del sujeto en la actual sociedad compleja y plural? A partir del diagnóstico de Nussbaum sobre la tendencia mundial de reducir la educación a un proceso de capacitación para el mercado, se busca evaluar la importancia y las exigencias de las reflexiones de la pensadora estadounidense al proponer una educación desde la perspectiva socrática, apuntando la necesidad de la reflexión y el desarrollo de la capacidad de argumentación como bases de la formación pedagógica. Se considera que la reanudación de la pedagogía socrática propuesta por la autora se presenta como importante referencia para el desarrollo de una formación humanista de cada individuo y la construcción de una sociedad democrática.]]></p></abstract>
