O artigo apresenta resultados de uma pesquisa descritiva de delineamento qualitativo que teve como objetivo compreender a influência da relação afetiva entre professores e estudantes do Curso de Educação Física de uma universidade pública da Bahia, no processo de formação acadêmica. O estudo contou com a colaboração de sete estudantes e quatro professores do referido curso, os quais participaram de entrevistas semiestruturadas do tipo questões estímulo. A análise dos dados foi realizada mediante a técnica Análise de Conteúdo. Os principais resultados indicam que a afetividade, na concepção dos sujeitos que participaram da pesquisa, apresenta diferentes sentidos que se intercruzam, tais como: possibilita um clima propício de aproximação, compreensão, confiança e respeito mútuo, o que favorece a construção de conhecimentos pelos estudantes que se encontram em formação. Contudo, quando a relação entre professores e estudantes é marcada por distanciamento, poder hierárquico e atitudes de soberba, podem ocorrer resultados contraproducentes para a vida acadêmica e pessoal dos graduandos que se sentem desamparados e desmotivados. Muitas vezes, eles passam a rejeitar os professores e os componentes curriculares ministrados, podendo levar a desistências e atrasos no processo de formação inicial.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The affective relations between teachers and students can influence positively, or negatively, the learning process. So, this article presents the results of a descriptive research with qualitative design that has aimed to understand the influence of the affective relationship between professors and students on their academic formation. The sample space has focused on students registered in a Physical Education Undergraduate Course of a public university in state of Bahia, Brazil. The study had the collaboration of seven students and four professors, who had answered to semi-structured stimulus-type interviews. The data analysis was performed through Content Analysis technique. The main results, that had arrived from the subjects concepts, point the affectivity as presenting different interrelated meanings: on one side, they enable a proper approximation climate, comprehension, trust, mutual respect, what favors the undergraduate students to develop knowledge; on the other hand, when this relation is marked by detachment, hierarchical power, and pride attitudes, it may produce consequences to academic and personal life of students, who find themselves helpless, and unmotivated, and, many times, they may reject the professor, or the academic discipline taught by him - this may cause quitclaim, or delays in the undergraduate process.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Las relaciones afectivas entre professores y estudiantes influyen positiva o negativamente en el proceso de aprendizaje. El articulo presenta los resultados de una investigación descriptiva de tipo cualitativa que tuvo como objetivo comprender la influencia de la relación afectiva entre profesores y estudiantes del Curso de Educación Fisica de una universidad pública de la Bahía en el proceso de formación académica. El estudio contó con la colaboración de siete estudiantes y cuatro profesores del referido curso que participaron de entrevistas semi-estructuradas del tipo preguntas de estímulo. El anãlisis de los datos fué realizado mediante la técnica de Análisis de Contenido. Los principales resultados indican que la afectividad, en la concepción de los sujetos que participaron de la investigación, presenta diferentes sentidos que se interlazan: por un lado propicia un clima propicio para la aproximación, comprensión, confianza y respeto mutuo, lo que favorece la construcción de conocimientos por parte de los estudiantes en formación. Por otro lado, cuando la relación entre profesores y estudiantes es marcada por el distanciamiento, poder jerárquico y actitudes de soberbia, pueden ocasionar resultados contraproducentes para la vida académica y personal de los graduandos que se sienten desamparados, desmotivados y muchas veces, pasan a rechazar a los profesores y a los componentes curriculares por ellos impartidos, pudiendoles llevar a la desistencia y al atraso en el proceso de formación inicial.]]></p></abstract>
