Considerando isso, discutimos, neste artigo, o processo de reconhecimento e de difus&#227;o da Libras no Brasil e seu estabelecimento como disciplina obrigat&#243;ria nos cursos de forma&#231;&#227;o de professores. Para tanto, apresentamos a experi&#234;ncia da Universidade Federal do Esp&#237;rito Santo (UFES) e de uma das Universidades Federais do estado de Minas Gerais. Al&#233;m de analisar como a Libras vem sendo trabalhada, ressaltamos os diversos aspectos que a envolvem e as experi&#234;ncias dos alunos com a disciplina, com o intuito de problematizar seu impacto na forma&#231;&#227;o de futuros profissionais. Vimos que independente da ex&#237;gua carga hor&#225;ria e a despeito de qual seja o conte&#250;do explorado na disciplina, a Libras no ensino superior desencadeia um consistente processo de transforma&#231;&#227;o social, pol&#237;tica, cultural e acad&#234;mica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Nowadays, with the dissemination of an inclusion policy, teacher training intends to promote a reflection on differences within the school environment, training professionals to deal with them. Hence, this article discusses the process of legal recognition and dissemination of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) in Brazil and its establishment as a mandatory subject in teacher training courses. To this purpose, we present the experience of the Federal University of Esp&#237;rito Santo (UFES) and of one of the Federal Universities of Minas Gerais. Besides analyzing how Libras has been dealt with, we emphasize the various aspects involving it and student experiences with the subject, in order to discuss their impact on the development of future professionals. We have observed that despite the small hour load and content of in this discipline, Libras in Higher Education triggers a consistent process of social, political, cultural and academic transformation.]]></p></abstract>
