A análise realizada permitiu compreender que o desenvolvimento socioemocional é construído, pelos colaboradores das revistas, como algo problemático, cuja normalidade é constantemente ameaçada pelas ações incorretas dos pais. Tal constitui um poderoso argumento para uma crescente intervenção dos peritos psi na vida familiar, que se vão constituir, durante a segunda metade do século XX, em elementos centrais do processo de governação da parentalidade e da infância.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The main purpose of this article was to analyze the discourses about the socio-emotional development of children published in Portuguese parenting magazines, between 1945 and 1958, period when experts, such as doctors and psy experts, became increasingly concerned with the socio-emotional well-being of children. The analysis shows that magazine contributors constructed socio-emotional development of children as fragile, with its normality constantly threatened by parents’ improper attitudes and behaviors. We argue that it constitutes a powerful argument in favor of a growing intervention of psy experts in family life that played, in the second half of the 20th century, a key role in parenthood and childhood government.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Este artículo tiene como objeto de análisis los discursos a respecto del desarrollo socioemocional, difundidos por medio de las revistas de ‘educación familiar’ publicadas en Portugal, entre 1945 y 1958, período en que se asiste a una mayor preocupación, por parte de los médicos y educadores, con la preservación de la salud mental del niño. El análisis realizado ha permitido comprender que el desarrollo socioemocional es construido, por los colaboradores de las revistas, como algo problemático, cuya normalidad es constantemente amenazada por las acciones incorrectas de los padres. Esto se constituye un poderoso argumento para una creciente intervención de los peritos psi en la vida familiar, que van a constituirse, durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX, en elementos centrales del proceso de gobernación de la parentalidad y de la infancia.]]></p></abstract>
