Foram utilizadas pesquisa documental e revisão bibliográfica, baseando-se na Nova História Cultural e na Teoria Decolonial. O corpus inclui artigos do periódico e a legislação educacional paraense do período, com destaque para documentos sobre a relação entre educação e higienismo, enfatizando a hipnose em crianças. A análise identificou a proposta da revista de formar um cidadão conforme as demandas do regime republicano e as relações de poder socioculturais nos discursos educacionais, sob uma perspectiva decolonial.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This study examines the relationship between education and hygienism in the Amazon region of Pará, focusing on the scientific discourses published in the pedagogical journal A Escola between 1901 and 1902, in order to understand their epistemic implications. The research used documentary analysis and literature review, grounded in New Cultural History and Decolonial Theory. The corpus includes articles from A Escola and Pará&#8217;s educational legislation of the period, with particular emphasis on documents addressing the relationship of education and hygienism, notably the use of hypnosis in children. The analysis reveals the journal&#8217;s aim to shape citizens in accordance with the demands of the contemporary republican regime and the sociocultural power relations in educational discourses from a decolonial perspective.]]></p></abstract>

La recherche documentaire et la révision bibliographique ont été utilisées, basées sur la Nouvelle Histoire Culturelle et la Théorie Décoloniale. Le corpus inclut des articles du périodique et la législation éducative du Pará de la période, en mettant en avant des documents sur la relation entre éducation et hygiénisme, et l&#8217;accent sur l&#8217;hypnose chez les enfants.
