A revista é pensada como um meio de tornar acessíveis às famílias os conhecimentos advindos de ciências que têm como objeto de estudo a criança, haja vista que apresenta discursos de diversos especialistas, principalmente os vinculados à medicina e à psicologia. O trabalho objetiva analisar as representações sobre desenvolvimento infantil presentes na revista e a sua legitimação por meio do discurso dos especialistas. Considera a presença e a legitimidade dos diferentes discursos nessa publicação: dos especialistas, dos pais e das crianças e trata do tema do desenvolvimento, um dos pilares das representações da infância na Pais & Filhos. Por fim, discute os resultados, enfocando o tema da infância como objeto de especialistas, a partir de uma racionalidade moderna.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This paper presents part of the results from a master's degree research addressing the relationship between childhood and development, based on the analysis of social representations of childhood in the 'Pais & Filhos' magazine. The magazine is conceived as a means of making accessible to families the scientific knowledge that has the study of children as its object, given that features speeches from many experts, especially those related to medicine and psychology. This study aims to analyze the representations of child development present in the magazine and its legitimation through the discourse of experts. It considers the presence and legitimacy of different discourses in this publication: by experts, parents and children, and addresses the issue of development, one of the pillars of childhood representation in the 'Pais & Filhos' magazine. Finally, it discusses the results, focusing on the theme of childhood as the target of experts, as from a modern rationality.]]></p></abstract>
