Em uma perspectiva mais ampla, que trata da integração das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) aos processos de ensino e de aprendizagem, busca deslocar a discussão da modalidade para o método. A educação para a cidadania pela EaD está associada à apropriação crítica e criativa das mídias em duas dimensões: como ferramenta pedagógica e como objeto de estudo. Este artigo reconhece a formação de professores pela EaD como um espaço de possibilidades para a formação crítica, desde que pensada segundo este referencial. E procura atender ao seu objetivo de fomentar o debate acerca das concepções possíveis para a educação a distância na medida em que analisa e relaciona alguns desafios enfrentados quando a iniciativa é fazer a EaD como mídia-educação. Reafirma em sua conclusão que o potencial dos sujeitos de se apropriarem crítica e criativamente das ferramentas técnicas que tendem a instrumentalizá-los é parte essencial da agenda da formação de professores, de modo a oportunizar a transformação metodológica posta em pauta na educação contemporânea.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This paper presents a reflection on distance education (DE), based on the theoretical and methodological approach of media education. Using a broad perspective that involves the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to teaching and learning processes - it aims to shift the discussion from the modality to the method. Citizen education through DE is associated to a critical and creative appropriation of media in both dimensions: as a pedagogical tool and as an object of study. This article recognizes the education of teachers through DE as a space of possibilities for critical education, as long as it is considered under this approach. It aims to contribute to the discussion about the concepts to be used for DE by analyzing and presenting some challenges faced when one tries to offer DE as media education. The paper concludes that the subjects’ potential for a critical and creative appropriation of technical tools is an essential part of teacher education, to make possible the methodological shift required in contemporary education.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Cet article présente une réflexion sur l’éducation à distance (EaD) fondée sur le référentiel théorique et méthodologique de l’éducation aux médias. Á partir d’une perspective plus large sur l’intégration des technologies de l’information et communication (TIC) aux processus d’enseignement et d’apprentissage, on cherche à déplacer la discussion de la modalité à la méthode. L’éducation à la citoyenneté par l’EaD est associée à l’appropriation critique et créative des médias en deux dimensions: en tant qu’outil pédagogique et en tant qu’objet d’étude. Ce texte reconnaît la formation des enseignants via EaD comme un champ de possibilités pour la formation critique, à condition d’être pensée selon ce référentiel. Il cherche aussi à encourager le débat sur les conceptions possibles de l’éducation à distance, dans la mesure où il analyse e met en rapport les difficultés rencontrées lorsqu’il s’agit de faire l’éducation à distance en tant qu’éducation aux médias. Ce texte souligne dans sa conclusion que les potentialités des sujets à s’approprier de façon critique et créative des outils techniques (qui tendent à les instrumentaliser) constituent une partie essentielle de l’agenda de formation des enseignants, de façon à favoriser la transformation méthodologique exigée par l’éducation contemporaine.]]></p></abstract>
