Trata-se de estudo inicial que tem por objetivo problematizar as rela&#231;&#245;es entre a leitura e a aritm&#233;tica nos primeiros anos escolares no Brasil no per&#237;odo compreendido entre 1880 a 1930. Sabe-se que j&#225; existem v&#225;rios estudos sobre a hist&#243;ria do ensino da leitura, sobre as discuss&#245;es metodol&#243;gicas que envolveram esse ensino na escola brasileira. No entanto, praticamente, n&#227;o h&#225; pesquisas que tomem a escola prim&#225;ria - a escola do ler, escrever e contar - como tema de investiga&#231;&#227;o, considerando essas rubricas em conjunto. Assim, este artigo aborda comparativamente os debates sobre m&#233;todos de ensino, buscando responder &#224; seguinte quest&#227;o: em que medida as discuss&#245;es sobre m&#233;todos de alfabetiza&#231;&#227;o est&#227;o tamb&#233;m colocadas para m&#233;todo de ensino de matem&#225;tica nos primeiros anos escolares? A resposta obtida, com o desenvolvimento do trabalho, revela dois aspectos: um amplo que mostra que para al&#233;m dos conte&#250;dos pr&#243;prios de cada mat&#233;ria escolar, os ensinos do curso prim&#225;rio mostram-se integrados pela pedagogia de um tempo. Estud&#225;-los em separado (a leitura, a aritm&#233;tica etc.) &#233; expediente anal&#237;tico inexor&#225;vel, que aponta necessariamente para a volta de uma s&#237;ntese indicativa, seja das finalidades reais colocadas no cotidiano escolar para cada mat&#233;ria como daquelas finalidades de objetivo da escola prim&#225;ria, expressas nos documentos normativos da Educa&#231;&#227;o num dado tempo. De outra parte, h&#225; um resultado espec&#237;fico, que aponta para a integra&#231;&#227;o dos debates sobre m&#233;todos tanto para a matem&#225;tica presente nos primeiros anos escolares como para o ensino da leitura.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The article focuses on the reading of history in Brazil and topics related to the history of mathematics education in the early school years. This initial study is to analyze the relationship between reading and arithmetic in the early school years in Brazil in the period 1880 to 1930. It is known that a lot of studies about the history of reading teaching have already been made as well as methodological discussions which have involved this teaching in Brazilian school. However, practically, there aren&#180;t reaserches that involve the elementary school which is the school of reading, writing and arithmetic - as the subject of a research, considering these items together. Thus, this article discusses comparatively the debates on teaching methods, seeking to answer the question: To what extent discussions on literacy methods are also placed for math teaching method in the early school years? The response obtained with the development of the work, reveals two aspects: a wide aspect showing Study them separately (reading, arithmetic etc.) is inexorable analytical device, which necessarily points to a return to an indicative summary, either being the real purpose placed in the daily school for each course, or those aimed at elementary school purposes expressed in the normative documents of Education at a given time. On the other hand, there is a specific result, which points to the integration of discussions on methods for both mathematics present in the early school years, and for the teaching of reading.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[L'article se concentre sur la lecture de l'histoire du Br&#232;sil et des sujets li&#233;s &#224; l'histoire de l'enseignement des math&#233;matiques aux premi&#232;res ann&#233;es de l&#8223;&#233;cole. Il s&#8223;agit d&#8223;un &#233;tude initial qui a le but problematiser le rapport entre la lecture et l'arithm&#233;tique aux premi&#232;res ann&#233;es de l&#8223;&#233;cole au Br&#233;sil, de 1880 jusqu&#8223;&#224; 1930. Il est connu la pr&#233;sence des plusieurs &#233;tudes &#224; propos d'histoire de l&#8223;enseignement bien comme ses discussions m&#233;thodologiques, dans les &#233;coles br&#233;siliennes. Cependant, en pratique il n'y a pas de recherche sur l'&#233;cole primaire - l'&#233;cole de la lecture, l'&#233;criture et l'arithm&#233;tique - comme sujet de la recherche, en considerant ces &#233;l&#233;ments ensemble.
