O presente artigo tem por objetivo caracterizar a ansiedade de estudantes do ensino médio e examinar se existem diferenças em relação ao gênero e ao ano escolar dos alunos. Participaram da pesquisa 957 estudantes do ensino médio de escolas públicas e particulares de duas cidades brasileiras. Os dados foram coletados pela escala de ansiedade do Inventário de Estratégias de Estudo e Aprendizagem &#8722; Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI). Diferenças significativas nos escores da escala de ansiedade em relação ao gênero e à escolaridade foram encontradas. As alunas reportaram significativamente mais ansiedade do que os alunos. Os estudantes do terceiro ano apresentaram menores índices de ansiedade do que os demais. Espera-se contribuir para o avanço das pesquisas sobre o tema e nortear ações que reduzam a ansiedade no contexto educativo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Anxiety is a sensation associated with worry, anguish or fear and can have negative consequences for learning. The present article has the objective to characterize the anxiety of high school students and to examine whether there are differences in relation to students´ gender and school year. 957 high school students from public and private schools of two Brazilian cities participated in the research. The data were collected through the anxiety scale of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI). Significant differences in the anxiety scale scores in relation to gender and school year were found. Girls reported significantly more anxiety than boys. Third year students had lower anxiety indices when compared to students of other school years. It is expected to contribute to the advancement of research on the topic, as well as to guide psychopedagogical actions that reduce students&#8217;anxiety in education context.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen La ansiedad es una sensación asociada a la preocupación, la angustia y el miedo com consecuencias negativas para el aprendizaje. Este artículo caracteriza la ansiedad de los estudiantes de secundaria y examina si existen diferencias en relación con el género y el año escolar. Participaron en la investigación 957 estudiantes de secundaria de escuelas públicas y privadas brasileñas. Los datos fueron recolectados usando la escala de ansiedad del Inventario de Estrategias de Estudio y Aprendizaje &#8722; Inventario de Estrategias de Aprendizaje y Estudio (LASSI). Se encontraron diferencias significativas en las puntuaciones de la escala en relación con el género y la escolaridad. Las estudiantes mujeres informaron significativamente más ansiedad que los varones. Los estudiantes de tercer año tenían niveles más bajos de ansiedad que los demás. Se espera que contribuya al avance de la investigación sobre el tema y oriente acciones que reduzcan la ansiedad en el contexto educativo.]]></p></abstract>
